Aurora SIS provides a comprehensive set of tools designed specifically for charter, cooperative, and project-based schools. Aurora SIS streamlines back-office operations, student management, requisitions, grading, and document management.
Every school is a little different, that’s why Aurora SIS is built with customization in mind. This allows for a more seamless transition from the existing infrastructure and eliminates the need for paper records, endless excel spreadsheets, and reduces email communication and errors by up to 90%.

SPs are an essential part of the system. It contains general information about the student, enrollment data, schedule, grades, and work samples.
Students are enrolled into the school year by adding them to the system with status “Enrolled” or by moving them from the previous school year. There’s an ability to enroll students in bulk by uploading a CSV document.
Each student receives funding for the year, based on their enrollment percentage and can be customized for each student. Aurora SIS supports Late entries, custom student funding, automatic student funding, and other options.
Aurora SIS has a comprehensive system for managing student classes and schedule. It supports parent-taught classes, vendor-taught classes, enrichment classes, Field trips, electives, Online classes, University classes, tutoring, and custom class types.
Student schedules can be drafted by parents and advisors and has an optional approval process.
Parents and teachers can request goods, services, supplies for their classes. All items in the system can be processed as requisitions and reimbursements. Printable reimbursement forms are available for parents to sign and attach receipts.
General expenses for internet, computers and other items are supported and deducted from the yearly allowance.
Custom grading rules can be applied for subjets and courses, grades can be locked, changed, and have attached work samples. Grading can be done by teachers and ammended by school staff.
Parents and teachers can upload work samples and exam samples for accountability purposes. Documents, pictures, and videos are supported and can be reviewed by staff or advisor if needed. Work samples are stored in enterprise-level storage with a 10-year archival policy.
Change management is a tool that allows for answer the “who did this?” question. All changes in the system are logged and can be later review to find out why the grade was changed from B to C, or why the class is not on the student schedule anymore.
Aurora SIS comes with 20+ pre-built reports that can be exported to PDF. Additional reports can be developed on-demand.
All family information can be retrieved from the central location. There might be multiple guardians and students in the same family. General information page and search functionality helps if family needs to be contacted.
Additionaly, there’s a monthly family contact log to keep track of monthly discussions with each family. It is optional, but highly encouraged to use.
Aurora SIS supports 5 main roles for the system: Administrator/Staff, Advisor, Course Teacher, Vendor, Guardian, and several custom roles such as: Sponsor teacher, Teacher for SWD students, and others.
Each role has it’s own set of permissions that can be modified from a page by school staff.
Impersonation is a process for school staff to log-in to guardians or teachers accounts to see what they see. This helps with technical support and questions that users might have.
There are many other features available in the system that are not covered by this guide: working with students with disabilities, school year management, student packet locking, important messages, and others.
